Her Style
When the holiday calendar turns to galas and candlelit celebrations, from St. Petersburg’s ballrooms to Tampa’s waterfront soirées, few things light up a room quite like gold. Carolina Herrera’s Fall 2026 collection offers the season’s most radiant answer, pairing the house’s polished glamour with a fresh spirit of self-expression.
After staging his spring show in Madrid’s Plaza Mayor, creative director Wes Gordon returned to New York for fall, presenting the collection in the Meatpacking District. His inspiration was a community of women, past and present, who have shaped the art world, from artists and muses to gallerists, patrons and collectors, with the legendary collector Peggy Guggenheim as a guiding muse.
Several of those women walked the runway, including painter Amy Sherald; artists Anh Duong, Rachel Feinstein and Eliza Douglas; Ming Smith, the first African American woman photographer to have her work acquired by the Museum of Modern Art; gallerist Hannah Traore; and muse Flora Currin. With three generations of Herrera clients in the audience, the show honored the house’s polished past while pointing toward a future of bolder self-expression.
Strength and volume shaped the silhouettes, with exaggerated shoulders, cocoon coats, puff-sleeve blazers and streamlined pencil skirts balanced by a practical, lived-in ease. Fitted little jackets with puff shoulders and calla lily buttons recalled the founder’s own early style, though Gordon imagines them worn with jeans and heels.
“Few things light up a room quite like gold.”
Color, a defining Herrera signature, arrived in a vibrant purple, a bright red and a deep, rich emerald green, while makeup artist James Kaliardos approached beauty as wearable art with a modern take on maximalist makeup.
House codes returned through print, from bold leopard jacquard to painterly calla lilies and poppy florals rendered on organza. “We’re a house of flowers,” Gordon said, and he chose the calla lily for its sculptural, minimalist shape.
Evening was reimagined. Rather than gowns, Gordon concentrated on cocktail dresses and party frocks, sequined knit separates as easy to wear as sweaters, and a tie-neck jacket with fringed paillettes styled with black denim. Luminous gold coats and dresses recalled the muted gold tones of Agnes Martin’s celebrated 1963 painting, Friendship.
The Carolina Herrera Gold-Embroidered Coat is hand-embroidered with baguette sequins, glass bugle beads and crystals, and is realized over 2,735 hours of craftsmanship. The dense linear embroidery catches the light, recalling the muted gold tones of Agnes Martin’s Friendship.
A runway style from the Fall 2026 collection, the coat is crafted in 100 percent silk and made in India, with concealed snap closures at the front. Worn over a little black dress, it shines at the season’s galas, holiday parties and New Year’s Eve celebrations.

It is, as Vogue put it, “Not your grandmother’s Carolina Herrera, or your mother’s either.” This season, that confidence is the most glamorous accessory of all.
