Dr. Jose E. Sarria is a board-certified Interventional Pain Medicine specialist, entrepreneur, and the Owner and CEO of Aspire Pain Relief Institute. Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, his passion for medicine began at just 14 years old following the passing of his beloved pediatrician, who was also his uncle. That pivotal experience inspired a lifelong commitment to helping others heal and improve their quality of life.
Dr. Sarria’s distinguished medical journey spans some of the nation’s most respected institutions. After earning his medical degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela’s José María Vargas School of Medicine, he completed a General Surgery internship at Brown University School of Medicine, an Anesthesiology Residency at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, and an Interventional Pain Medicine Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. He first came to Tampa in 2001 for residency training and later returned after fellowship to begin his career at Moffitt Cancer Center, ultimately choosing Tampa as the place to build both his professional legacy and family life.
At Aspire Pain Relief Institute, Dr. Sarria specializes in advanced, minimally invasive treatments for chronic pain, spinal disorders, and cancer-related pain. His philosophy centers on restoring function, independence, and quality of life while reducing reliance on major surgery and long-term opioid therapy. For him, success is measured not by procedures performed, but by helping patients return to the activities and people they love.
Beyond medicine, Dr. Sarria is deeply committed to mentorship, community service, and supporting veterans through specialized pain management programs. He is also an accomplished musician who plays guitar, bass, and piano, writes original music, and enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife of 26 years, their two adult children, and close friends. Looking ahead, he remains dedicated to advancing the field of Interventional Pain Medicine and bringing innovative, evidence-based treatments to patients throughout Tampa Bay and beyond.
