Committed to Excellence Always: Every Action, Every Patient, Every Time.

Tampa Style Magazine's Doctors of the Year 2026

Dr. Tim Carlson is a compassionate physician dedicated to the practice of personalized individual medical care and education in the Tampa Bay area.

He has an extensive medical background, receiving his undergraduate degree at Butler University, Indianapolis, Indiana; postgraduate studies in neuroanatomy at the University of Florida; and a Physician Assistant Program Bachelor of Science in Medicine from the University of Florida. After completing 17 years in cardiovascular medicine, he returned to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree. After completing the Bayfront Medical Center Family Practice Residency, he was the second physician to achieve the Patient Excellence Award. My greatest pride is to provide healthcare to my private patients in our community, the underserved, and senior living facilities. Yes, I will do house calls. My vision embraces a stronger medical foundation for the best outcomes for all my patients.

I was honored with multiple awards, including Consumer Research Council of America for America’s Top Family Doctors, Patient Choice Award, Cambridge Lifetime Who’s Who Registry of Executives and Professions, and Florida Top Doctor 2026.

I believe in strong leadership involvement with numerous hospital appointments, including medical executive committees, quality improvement, chief of medicine, chief of staff, and recently the Board of Trustees at HCA St. Petersburg Hospital and HCA Pasadena Hospital. Regional involvement includes Co-Chairman of the HCA West Florida Division Physician Advisory Board. I believe in our vision statement to be your partner in healthcare excellence.

I love sports. Amateur and professional involvement includes being a Ringside Physician for the Florida Athletic Commission, Certified Association Ringside Physician, and recent inductee to the Florida Boxing Hall of Fame 2025. I am honored to support UFC, WBA boxing, USA Boxing as a ringside physician, MMA, and ISKA.

My greatest challenge was surviving our recent hurricanes, losing everything. Kate Patterson, HCA Vice President Physician Service Group, was at my side. Two bouts of surviving colon cancer. God blessed me.
