Beauty & Wellness Remedies
By Maha Chaudhry
As the seasons shift here in Florida, so do the needs of our skin, body, and energy. As spring’s soft breeze gives way to summer’s warmth, this transition invites us to recalibrate.
With longer days and rising temperatures, hydration, nourishment, and simplicity become essential. The good news? Some of the best beauty and wellness remedies can be created right at home, using natural ingredients that support both inner balance and outer glow.
Here are a few holistic rituals to help you transition seamlessly from bloom to glow.
Sip Your Way to a Gentle Reset
A warm herbal infusion can do more than hydrate—it can support digestion, reduce bloating, and help the body feel lighter as temperatures rise.
Steep fresh mint leaves, sliced ginger, and dandelion tea in hot water for 5 to 10 minutes. Finish with a squeeze of lemon. This simple blend supports liver function, soothes the digestive system, and offers a refreshing, grounding ritual to start or end your day.
A Mask for Radiance
Mix one tablespoon of raw honey (manuka is my choice) with a pinch of turmeric and a spoonful of plain yogurt. Apply for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing. This combination hydrates, soothes inflammation, and gently exfoliates, revealing brighter, smoother skin.
Turmeric alone has been an ancient beauty staple in South Asia, and is one of the main pre-wedding beauty remedies.
Cool, Calm, Restore
With more time spent outdoors, skin can become sensitized by sun and heat. Cooling ingredients help restore balance.
Blend fresh cucumber with aloe vera gel and apply as a mask or light daily layer. This simple remedy refreshes the skin and is especially effective after sun exposure. Aloe vera also has antibacterial properties that beneficial for wound healing and dental care (another plus).
Soak in Stillness
An evening reset can be as simple as slowing down. Add Epsom salt and a few drops of lavender oil to a warm bath. Soak for 20 minutes to relax the body and calm the nervous system. This is especially soothing on days you feel additionally stressed, as its great for reducing cortisol levels.
Polish and Renew
Transitioning seasons is the perfect time to gently exfoliate and reveal fresh, renewed skin.
Combine mashed strawberry, sugar, and a touch of coconut oil. Gently massage onto lips or skin, then rinse. This blend is great at removing dry skin while simultaneously nourishing an early-summer glow.
An Inner Glow
Radiance always begins from within. A small daily wellness shot can support immunity and energy levels as you move into a more active season.
Blend fresh ginger, turmeric, lemon juice, and honey. I prefer taking this wellness shot first in the morning. This combo is another rich anti-inflammatory and immune-supporting mix, helping you feel vibrant inside-out.
As spring fades and summer begins to unfold, consider this your invitation to slow down, nourish deeply, and step into the season feeling restored, radiant, and fully in bloom.
Note: all skin types are different and some may be more prone to sensitivity. Please consult an expert or dermatologist for specific skin concerns or conditions.
