Tampa Style Magazine's Attorneys of the Year

Born and raised in Tampa, J. Daniel “Dan” Clark, Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer and Managing Partner of Clark Trial Law, grew up watching his father, James W. Clark, practice law after establishing the firm in 1972. From accompanying his father to the office on Sundays to watching him try cases at the courthouse, Dan gained an early appreciation for trial work and the responsibility that comes with representing others. Tampa has remained home ever since, connecting his family history, professional career, and commitment to the community.

After graduating from Jesuit High School, Dan attended Duke University, where he played tight end under legendary coach Steve Spurrier. He went on to Stetson University College of Law, serving on the Stetson Law Review and Trial Team and completing an internship with federal Judge Elizabeth Kovachevich. Those experiences helped him develop the preparation and courtroom skills that would become central to his career. Today, he is Board Certified in Civil Trial by The Florida Bar and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), focusing on serious civil litigation and helping clients navigate some of life’s most difficult circumstances.

Dan’s approach to trial law is grounded in preparation, professionalism, strategy, and ethics. He believes success is not simply measured by a verdict or dollar amount, but by knowing his team did the right thing for the right reasons and gave clients their very best. Clark Trial Law has secured more than half a billion dollars in damages for clients, but Dan remains focused on the people and futures behind every case.

Outside the courtroom, Dan enjoys traveling with his family, hunting, fishing, and following Tampa’s professional sports teams. He has served Jesuit High School as president of its foundation and on its Board of Trustees, coached Little League, and mentors aspiring lawyers. As Clark Trial Law enters its next chapter, Dan is focused on building upon his father’s legacy while evolving the firm for the future.
