This foundation was forged early as a Christian and Boy Scout in a military family. He also served as a general surgeon and visiting instructor at the Navy Trauma Training Center affiliated with USC and LA County Hospitals, training physicians and corpsmen to perform under the most demanding and unpredictable conditions during predeployment team-building exercises.
Following military service, he advanced to his current career path, training under the tutelage of the world-renowned Francis Robicsek in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, ultimately serving as Surgical Director for the Advanced Heart Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support, and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Program at AdventHealth Tampa, growing it into one of the region’s finest and largest programs. In this role, he and his team achieved the Distinguished ELSO Center of Excellence by building multidisciplinary teams, standardized protocols, and establishing quality-driven systems of care. He was also instrumental in establishing the robust ECMO program and the first-in-region protocol-driven Extracorporeal Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (ECPR) program, expanding lifesaving options for patients in profound cardiac and respiratory failure within the AdventHealth system.
Above all, his commitment remains rooted in the community he serves. Through mentorship, program development, and patient-centered innovation, he continues to strengthen access to advanced care while honoring the trust placed in him. His career reflects a singular mission: to serve with excellence, lead with purpose, and improve lives—one patient, one team, and one community at a time.
