E. Colin Thompson
Tampa Style Magazine's Attorneys of the Year

E. Colin Thompson is a Partner in the Complex Litigation Group at Bartlett Loeb Hinds Thompson & Angelos, where he represents businesses, individuals, and professional athletes in complex legal disputes, and works with them to protect their interests and avoid such disputes.. Born in Denver, Colorado, and raised in the Tampa Bay area from the age of six, Colin developed an appreciation for entrepreneurship at an early age while working alongside his father in the family’s small retail business. Those early mornings, opening the store before sunrise and witnessing firsthand the dedication required to build and sustain a business, instilled a lifelong respect for business owners and the challenges they face. It also sparked his fascination with the intersection of business, finance, and the law.

A graduate of Bloomingdale High School, Colin earned both his undergraduate and master’s degrees in accounting before receiving his law degree from the University of Florida in 2002. During his time at UF, he served in numerous leadership roles with Florida Blue Key, ultimately becoming its president during a pivotal period in the organization’s history. Working alongside distinguished alumni, judges, and civic leaders taught him that every challenge presents an opportunity when approached with thoughtful leadership, creativity, and steady guidance. That philosophy continues to shape his legal practice today.

Returning to Tampa after law school, Colin built his career alongside the city’s remarkable growth into one of the nation’s most vibrant business communities. He believes success is measured by helping clients emerge from difficult situations stronger than when they began, whether through litigation, strategic problem-solving, or proactive legal counsel. Known for his calm, solution-oriented approach, he works tirelessly to identify creative paths forward while remaining focused on achieving his clients’ long-term goals.

Outside the office, Colin enjoys life on the water with his wife, Beth, and their three children, Tripp, Turner, and Taylor. Whether attending youth sporting events, diving in the Florida Keys, or supporting organizations such as the Heart Gallery of Tampa and Isaiah 117 House, he remains deeply committed to his family, his community, and helping others build a stronger future.
