Raised on military bases, J. Ronald Denman, Managing Partner of Bleakley Bavol Denman & Grace, developed an early sense of discipline and a strong desire to make a difference. Although he initially questioned whether law school was financially feasible, a First Amendment course during his senior year of college changed his trajectory. Studying case law and advocating for clients sparked an immediate passion for the law and confirmed that becoming an attorney was the path he wanted to pursue. After earning his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Florida, Ron began his legal career as a prosecutor in Sarasota, where he developed the trial skills that would become foundational to his practice.
Ron later returned to Miami, practicing civil and commercial litigation at two prominent firms before joining a client as general counsel. His role eventually expanded into business ownership, giving him firsthand experience helping grow a manufacturing and distribution company with national and international reach. That client-side perspective remains invaluable in his work today, allowing him to understand not only the legal issues his clients face, but also the practical realities of running a business. About 12 years ago, Ron chose Tampa as the place to raise his four children and build his next professional chapter. He quickly embraced the city’s growth and opportunity, ultimately joining two accomplished attorneys to build a respected law firm.
Today, Ron serves as Managing Partner and senior litigation partner, leading a team handling civil and commercial litigation, business transactions, and trust, estate, and guardianship matters. His philosophy is simple: “Make a difference.” He strives to resolve matters efficiently before clients invest unnecessary time and resources, but when litigation is unavoidable, he believes in out-preparing the opposition. Success, to Ron, means making a positive difference in a client’s life or business while mentoring younger attorneys and helping them develop a genuine love for the profession.
Outside the office, Ron enjoys spending time with his four children, tackling DIY projects, exploring Tampa’s restaurants and attractions, and staying active. His fondness for traveling depositions and business meetings also gave him an unusual way to experience cities: early-morning runs through their streets. As Tampa continues to evolve, Ron looks forward to helping the next generation of attorneys grow the firm while keeping Tampa at its heart.
