Sam Badawi
Tampa Style Magazine's Attorneys of the Year

Sam Badawi’s journey to law began across continents. Born in Latakia on Syria’s Mediterranean coast, he came to America as a young immigrant and learned its language and culture from the ground up. He went on to earn a Doctor of Pharmacy from Samford University in Alabama, but it was the American promise of the rule of law that ultimately changed his direction. Inspired by the idea that fair principles could protect ordinary people from powerful forces, Sam set pharmacy aside and pursued a career in law.

Tampa Bay became the place where Sam’s professional and personal lives took root. He came to the area for family and work, built a life with his wife, and earned his LL.M. from Stetson University. As an immigrant himself, he found a natural connection to Tampa Bay’s diverse community of people who have arrived from somewhere else and made the region home. Today, his legal practice serves clients throughout Florida, reflecting a career built on both scientific knowledge and legal experience.

Sam began his professional career in biotechnology before transitioning into law. He was admitted to the Alabama Bar in 2008, the Florida Bar in 2015, and the Georgia Bar in 2024. In 2011, he was registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, an achievement that reflects his scientific background and multidisciplinary approach to law.

Away from the office, Sam and his wife are raising three boys, including twins. Family time often means fishing on the water or traveling abroad together. His commitment to Tampa Bay also extends into the community, where he supports local community centers, religious institutions, neighborhood schools, and the Temple Terrace Spirit soccer team. For Sam, giving back is a simple expression of gratitude for the community that gave him a home.
