Dr. Benjamin Szpila has dedicated his career to providing exceptional vascular care while building lasting relationships with the patients and communities he serves. Born overseas to a military family and raised primarily throughout the South, he developed an early fascination with science and medicine, inspired in large part by his mother, a science teacher. That curiosity evolved into a lifelong commitment to helping others through medicine and surgery.
After completing his general surgery residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville and pursuing advanced fellowship training, Dr. Szpila and his family explored opportunities across the country before choosing the Tampa Bay area as their permanent home. Drawn by the region’s vibrant culture, welcoming people, and exceptional quality of life, they quickly became rooted in the community. Today, Dr. Szpila specializes in all aspects of vascular surgery, working alongside his team to deliver individualized, high-level care tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
For Dr. Szpila, success is measured not only by clinical outcomes but by the trust he earns from his patients. He believes that patients place their ultimate faith in their physicians, and that trust must be honored through expertise, compassion, and unwavering dedication. Outside of medicine, Dr. Szpila treasures time with his wife and child, whom he considers his greatest source of joy and inspiration. The family enjoys traveling, golfing, playing tennis, and spending time at the beach, particularly around St. Pete Beach. A fun fact many people are surprised to learn: he was born on a military base in the Philippines that was later destroyed by a volcanic eruption.
