For Dr. Lisa French, understanding people has been a lifelong fascination. Growing up in the Washington, D.C. area, she began exploring human behavior at an early age—conducting “interviews” with her brother about his dreams. Although her path initially included interests in law and a career in computer programming and analysis, her curiosity about the human mind ultimately led her to medicine and psychiatry, where she found her true calling.

Dr. French earned her medical degree from Michigan State University, graduating with honors in Ethics, Psychiatry, and Surgery. She completed her Adult Psychiatry Residency through Wayne State University, where her elective work with children helped shape a career dedicated to serving patients across all stages of life. Throughout the years, she has built broad expertise in outpatient and inpatient psychiatry, geriatric care, substance use disorders, emergency psychiatry, crisis residential treatment, and community mental health. Today, she provides outpatient psychiatric care for both children and adults, approaching every patient with compassion, collaboration, and individualized attention.

After spending more than two decades visiting her parents in Tampa each Christmas, Dr. French eventually made the move herself to the city she had long loved. She appreciates Tampa Bay’s cultural diversity, vibrant arts scene, and natural beauty, which continue to enrich both her personal and professional life. Her guiding philosophy is simple: success is achieved through teamwork. She strives to be a calm, consistent presence who listens carefully and develops comprehensive, personalized treatment plans that help patients thrive.

Outside the office, Dr. French enjoys spending time with her three grown children, her grandson, friends, and beloved dogs. Whether exploring local museums, attending performances at the Straz Center, visiting botanical gardens, or supporting community causes, she remains deeply committed to helping others. Looking ahead, she hopes to expand mental health support for underserved youth and continue making a meaningful difference throughout the Tampa Bay community.
